Student Ambassador Coordinator - Office of Admissions Position

Job Description

Position Overview

The Johns Hopkins SAIS Office of Admissions is seeking a motivated and engaged MA student to fill the new Student Ambassador Coordinator position for the 2018-2019 year. The Coordinator will report to and work closely with the Associate Director of Admissions and Admissions Coordinators to promote, develop, and oversee the Student Ambassador program, assist with calling campaigns to prospective and admitted students, identify ambassadors to participate in on campus information sessions and select off campus recruiting events and update tour guide material. This position is flexible in terms of scheduling and one can expect to commit a maximum of 12 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate and oversee the training of the Student Ambassadors
  • Assist with scheduling Ambassadors for information sessions, calling campaigns, off campus recruitment events and the Admitted Student Open House
  • Occasionally represent SAIS at recruiting events with admissions staff
  • Revise the SAIS student tour guide script and route
  • Assist the Admissions Coordinator with calling campaigns for prospects in December and new admits in January and March
  • Assist with data entry of class visitation schedule, and matching student ambassadors with visiting prospects
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • General knowledge of Johns Hopkins SAIS academic departments and campus resources
  • Strong time management skills to ensure academic success and completion of Ambassador duties
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and current students
  • An ability to work independently and strong project management skills, with minimal direction from advisors

  • Commitment to one full academic year
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software
